Kerstin Suchan-Mayr

Kerstin Suchan-Mayr (born July 17, 1975 as Kerstin Suchan ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). She has been the mayor of the Lower Austrian municipality of St. Valentin since 2010, and has been a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament since March 2018 .

Life

After elementary and secondary school in St. Valentin, Kerstin Suchan-Mayr attended the Federal Training Institute for Kindergarten Education (BAKIP) in Steyr , where she graduated in 1994 . She then worked as a kindergarten teacher at the state kindergarten in Ebreichsdorf . In 1995 she began studying sociology at the University of Linz , completing her studies in 1999 with a thesis on the subject of “The Simple Worker” - always prone to right-wing ideas? With special consideration of the Freedom Party of Austria and an international comparison of right-wing parties as Magistra.

In addition to her studies, she worked as an interviewer for the Austrian Central Statistical Office , after completing her studies she was the interview department manager at a market and opinion research institute. From 2000 she worked as a social pedagogue at Rettet das Kind Niederösterreich and from 2008 to 2010 at Kidsnest Niederösterreich .

Kerstin Suchan-Mayr was a member of the municipal council in St. Valentin from 1999 to 2000 , where she then acted as city councilor for youth, family and women until 2009. In 2002/03 she was also the federal chairwoman of the Young Generation Austria . In 2009 she became the Vice Mayor of St. Valentin, and since 2010 she has been the Mayor of St. Valentin. Since 2015, she has also been Vice President of the Association of Social Democratic Municipal Representatives in Lower Austria (Lower Austrian Municipal Association, Lower Austrian GVV).

On March 22, 2018, she was in the constituent state parliament session of the XIX. Legislative period as a Member of the Lower Austria state parliament sworn in , where it acts as a spokeswoman for budget and finance, family, children and child care and municipal affairs. After the resignation of party chairman Thomas Hagmüller, she took over the chairmanship of the SPÖ St. Valentin in 2020.
