history
After the state elections on January 28, 2018 , 29 of the 56 seats went to the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), which lost one seat but was able to hold an absolute majority. The Social Democratic Party of Austria was able to unite 13 seats, although it remained unchanged from the 2013 state election . The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) doubled to eight mandates, Die Grünen - Die Grüne Alternative (GRÜNE) lost one mandate and with only three mandates now also the club status and thus the club sponsorship. NEOS - The New Austria and Liberal Forum (NEOS) ran for the first time in Lower Austria and managed to enter the state parliament with three members, also without club status. The Stronach Lower Austria team was no longer a candidate and is therefore no longer represented in the state parliament.
The ÖVP won 19 constituency seats in the state elections, and ten more MPs move into the state parliament via the state list. Seven SPÖ MPs enter the state parliament via the constituency list, six via the state list. All mandataries of the FPÖ, the Greens and the NEOS move into the state parliament via the state list.
The constituent meeting of the Lower Austrian Parliament took place on March 22, 2018. After the swearing-in of MPs, the Parliament Bureau, the Provincial Governor, the two Landeshauptfrau deputies, Landesrätinnen and provincial councils was state government Mikl-Leitner II and the members and alternate members of the Federal Council voted, as well as other MPs by the Nachbesetzung of freed mandates by the change in the state government sworn in.
A total of 24 members of the previous legislative period left the state parliament.
Margit Göll , Kurt Hackl , Jürgen Handler , Bernhard Heinreichsberger , Elvira Schmidt and Klaudia Tanner were nominated for the mandates completed by the members of the government .
After losing their club status, the Greens founded an association called the “Green Club”. The association was approved by the association authority in a letter dated April 4, 2018. At the intervention of the Landtag director , a review of the association was carried out and, in December 2018, the establishment of the association was not permitted due to misleading and risk of confusion.
