List of the members of the joint state parliament of Lower Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of the members of the joint state parliament of Lower Austria lists all the members of the state parliament of Lower Austria before the elevation of Vienna as an independent federal state. The state parliament was in office from May 20, 1919 to November 10, 1920, with the members of parliament being elected on May 4, 1919 in a total of eleven constituencies. The constituencies were divided into seven Vienna constituencies (WK) and four Lower Austrian constituencies (VU), with 68 mandates being awarded in the Viennese constituencies and 52 in the Lower Austrian constituencies. In the elections, the Social Democratic Labor Party emerged as the largest parliamentary group with 64 seats. It was followed by the Christian Social Party with 45 seats. The German Association achieved 8 mandates, whereby the German Association consisted of different groups. Of the eight seats, five went to German National Members (Birbaumer, Kittinger, Lump, Koppensteiner, List, Zeidler and Gasselich), two to National Democrats (Lutz and Mittermann) and one to the National Socialist Riehl. The other three seats were won by the Czech Socialists. The state parliament first appeared on May 20, 1919 and elected the state government of Sever in the opening session . The term of office was ended by the entry into force of the Federal Constitutional Act of November 10, 1920, which determined the separation of Vienna from Lower Austria. For the period that followed until the two areas were finally separated, the Lower Austria Land Curia and the Vienna City Council for Vienna took over the political and administrative business of self-government.
