Marie Bock (politician)

Marie Bock (born July 10, 1881 in Leipzig , † June 6, 1959 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP).

Political functions

In 1913 Marie Bock became a party congress delegate, and in 1916 a member of the board of the party student association "Karl Marx". From 1919 to 1932 she was a member of the Vienna City Council, since 1923 its chairwoman. In 1920 Bock was co-opted into the management of the Vienna district workers' council for the social democratic women's organization . During the First Republic she was a “party welfare specialist”. She was a member of the Federal Council from December 1, 1920 to November 13, 1923 , and from May 24, 1932 to February 17, 1934.

Other functions

Bock was chairman of the "Societas" association, a predecessor organization of Volkshilfe .

Since 1933 she was a member of the women's central committee. Together with Marie Bock, Emmy Freundlich, Rosa Jochmann , Adelheid Popp, Gabriele Proft, Therese Schlesinger, Amalie Seidel, Katharina Graf, Marie Beutlmayr , Maria Matzner, Maria Köstler and Marie Tusch were elected to the women's central committee at the last extraordinary party conference in 1933 .

Private

Her husband Robert died at the end of the First World War, the son Reinhart died in the Second World War near Stalingrad .
