Marie Beutlmayr

Marie Beutlmayr (born February 26, 1870 in Neukirchen am Walde , Upper Austria , † June 5, 1948 in Linz ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP).

Marie Beutlmayr first worked as a housemaid in Vienna , later as a worker in the Franckfabrik (a coffee substitute factory) in Linz and then as a secretary in a steam sawmill.

Marie Beutlmayr was married and had one child.

Political functions

  • 1928: Chairwoman of the Social Democratic Women's Movement
  • 1918–1934: Member of the Linz City Council
  • 1919–1934: Member of the Upper Austrian Landtag
  • October 26, 1927 - December 9, 1930: Member of the Federal Council in place of the resigned Federal Councilor Eduard Euller

Between June 23, 1919 and May 18, 1925, Marie Beutlmayr was the first and only woman in the Upper Austrian state parliament.

  • 1893: Co-founder of a workers' education association in Linz
  • 1933: Member of the Women's Central Committee

Together with Marie Beutlmayr, Marie Bock , Emmy Freundlich, Rosa Jochmann, Adelheid Popp, Gabriele Proft, Therese Schlesinger, Amalie Seidel, Katharina Graf, Maria Matzner, Maria Köstler and Marie Tusch were elected to the women's central committee at the last extraordinary party conference in 1933 .

Honors

  • 1945: Honorary chairwoman of the socialist women's movement
  • 1989: In the Linz cadastral community of Waldegg , the Beutlmayrweg was named after her
