August Sigl

August Sigl (born April 21, 1868 in Vienna ; † May 14, 1936 ibid) was district chairman of the 10th Viennese district of Favoriten .

August Sigl was a private civil servant by profession and lived at Laxenburger Strasse 10. He was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1909 to 1915 . In 1911 he tried to be elected to the Reichsrat , which he did not succeed. After the war he was again a member of the state parliament from 1918 to 1921. Sigl was elected in 1919 as the first social democratic district chairman of Favoriten. In the course of the civil war in February 1934 , he was deposed as district chairman after a 15-year term. During this time, numerous important buildings for the district were built, above all 43 municipal buildings with a total of 9,500 new apartments and the Amalienbad .

In 1989 August-Sigl-Strasse in Vienna-Favoriten was named after him.
