Johann Krist (born November 5, 1869 in Rabersdorf , Moravia , † April 20, 1935 in Vienna ) was district chairman of the 10th Viennese district of Favoriten .

Life

Johann Krist came to Vienna as a commercial employee in 1889 and started his own perfumery in 1903 at today's Viktor-Adler-Platz 12 (then Eugenplatz ) . In the district he was active as chairman of the house owners' association, the allotment garden association Favoriten, the Volkslesehalle association and as honorary chairman of the Austrian Trade Association. He was also patronage commissioner of the parish parish church on Keplerplatz , local school councilor and editor of the Favoritner district newspaper , but had numerous other functions in various associations. Politically, Krist belonged to the Christian Social Party , of which he was district chairman and of which he was a member of the Vienna party leadership. From 1915 to 1918 he was deputy district mayor under Leopold Hruza . After the social democratic district chairman August Sigl was deposed by the authoritarian Dollfuss regime in the course of the civil war events in February 1934 , they resorted to Johann Krist, who was still part of the former Lueger Guard, to appoint him as district chairman.

Honors

Johann Krist received an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 4, row 4, no. 43). Kristgasse was named after him (not officially) within the Favoriten allotment garden .
