Karl Kittinger

Karl Kittinger (born December 1, 1857 in Karlstein an der Thaya , † December 21, 1920 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( DNP / GDVP ), postmaster and innkeeper. From 1901 to 1907 and from 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives , from 1918 to 1920 a member of the National Assembly and from 1909 to 1920 a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and deputy governor in Lower Austria.

Life

Kittinger attended elementary and lower secondary school and did military service between 1877 and 1880, taking part in the occupation of Bosnia from 1878 to 1880. He then worked as an inn owner and postmaster in Karlstein and was involved in founding a watchmaking cooperative. He was also a member of the committee of the watch industry college.

politics

Kittinger was a local councilor from 1885 to 1920. Between 1885 and 1897 he took over the office of mayor of Karlstein and acted as chairman of the district road committee. In 1901 he ran in the Reichsrat elections for the rural communities in Lower Austria (judicial districts Zwettl, Waidhofen an der Thaya etc.) and was initially a member of the Reichsrat until 1907 ( Xth legislative period ). In the state elections in Lower Austria in 1908, he appeared as a compromise candidate for the German National and Christian Socialists in the constituency of the cities of Waidhofen an der Thaya u. a. and was subsequently a member of the state parliament from January 8, 1909 to January 8, 1915. Also in the Imperial Council election in 1911 he was a compromise candidate between the two parties and was on 17 July 1911 as the Reichsrat sworn in ( XII. Legislature ). Kittinger joined the German National Association and represented the constituency of Lower Austria 37. After the First World War he was a member of the provisional state parliament of Lower Austria from November 5, 1918 to May 4, 1919 , then in the joint state parliament of Lower Austria and finally until his death in the state parliament of Lower Austria . He was also a member of the Provisional National Assembly from October 21, 1918 to February 16, 1919, and of the Constituent National Assembly from March 4, 1919 to November 9, 1920 . He was also Deputy Governor of Lower Austria from November 5, 1918 to May 20, 1919, and on May 20, 1919 he was sworn in again as a member of the state parliament. He belonged to this until his death, and from 1919 he was club chairman of the German Association in the state parliament.
