Karl Jedek (born October 16, 1853 in Spitz an der Donau ; † November 22, 1940 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ), innkeeper and timber merchant. Jedek was a member of the Provisional National Assembly from 1918 to 1919 and a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag between 1902 and 1932 .

Life

Jedek attended elementary school and took private lessons. In 1874 he took over the “Weißes Rössl” inn (Wachauerhof) in Spitz and also worked as a timber merchant. Together with Augustin Weigl he initiated the excursion boat trip between Krems and Melk - the first ship operated in 1888. He was politically active as a councilor between 1879 and 1919, and between 1888 and 1891 and from 1896 to 1919 he was also mayor of Spitz. Jedek belonged to the Lower Austrian Landtag from 1902 (the Provisional Landtag , the Joint Landtag , the Landtag of Lower Austria-Land and the Landtag of Lower Austria ( 1st and 2nd legislative period )), was from June 17, 1907 to November 12 1918 member of the Reichsrat ( XI. And XII. Legislative period ) and belonged to the Provisional National Assembly between October 21, 1918 and February 16, 1919 . Jedek resigned from the state parliament on May 31, 1932.
