Augustin Weigl (born August 28, 1845 - † February 5, 1914 ) was an Austrian manufacturer and pioneer of tourism in the Wachau . He is considered the father of the Wachau .

The Viennese citizen's son ran an estate in Tragöß before he got the position of factory director at Theyer & Hardtmuth in Stein an der Donau . With his move to Stein he became a pioneer and promoter of commercial tourism in the Wachau. In 1864 he opened the Donauwarte on the Braunsdorfer Berg as vice chairman of the Krems-Und-Stein section of the Austrian Tourist Club . Together with Reichsrat member Karl Jedek , he initiated the excursion boat trip between Krems an der Donau and Melk - the first boat sailed in 1888.
