Gerald Zelina (born October 10, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician and management consultant . He was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2013 to 2018 .

education and profession

Gerald Zelina attended the Vösendorf elementary school from 1975 to 1979 and then graduated from the Mödling Realgymnasium , where he also passed the Matura in 1987 . He then began studying business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , which he obtained in 1995 with the academic degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. degree (specialization 1: banking and credit industry; specialization 2: economic and administrative management; thesis: the Austrian asset management industry and its success factors).

Gerald Zelina was Secretary General of the Austrian Badminton Association from 1995 to 1997 , commercial director of PWG Promotion-Werbe-Jungs Ges.mbH from 1998 to 2000 and board member of the Pyror Private Foundation from 1999 to 2013. He also worked in 2001 as Head of Finance at Teletrader Software AG, from 2001 to 2002 in investment controlling at T-Mobile, from 2002 to 2006 as a member of the Roma Private Foundation and from 2008 to 2013 as a member of the DB Wassergenossenschaft.

Politics and functions

From 2012 to 2015 Gerald Zelina was a member of the board of the Stronach Niederösterreich team . In 2013, Gerald Zelina was sent to the Federal Council of the Austrian Parliament by the Lower Austria state parliament. From 2016 to 2017 he was also the finance officer of the Stronach parliamentary club.

After the Stronach team did not stand for election in the National Council election in Austria 2017 and thus left the new National Council on November 9, 2017, Zelina remained as the last member of the Stronach team in parliament. He applied thereafter in a Federal-speech on December 22, 2017 at the presentation of the new government program of the Federal Government Short I for admission to the Austrian People's Party . The present party chairman of the ÖVP and incumbent Federal Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz , did not comment on the request to join the party.

After the state elections in Lower Austria in 2018 , he left the Federal Council on March 21, 2018.
