Sandy Gbandi (born July 12, 1983 in Firestone , Margibi County , Liberia ) is a Liberian -American football player.

The family came to the United States at the start of the Liberian Civil War in 1989 and lived in Houston . Here Gbandi also attended college.

Sports career

As a teenager, he played for the Houston Dynamos and the Houston Texans . In his second year of studies ( sophomore ) he was appointed to the First Team All-Conference USA in 2004 and was nominated for the Second Team All-Conference USA one year later . Sandy Gbandi joined FC Dallas as a professional in January 2007 . After just one year, he moved to Puerto Rico Islanders FC in January 2008 . He is the younger brother of Chris Gbandi , who also played for Dallas.
