Sanitec was a European manufacturer of sanitary ware , headquartered in Helsinki, which Geberit has owned since 2015 . The company owned several European ceramic brands with 18 production facilities.

history

Sanitec was founded in 1990 as a subsidiary of Wärtsilä. From 1999 Sanitec was traded on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. This listing ended on November 1, 2001 after the takeover by Pool Acquisition Helsinki Oy, a company with which Sanitec merged on March 31, 2002. At the beginning of 2005, the merged company was completely taken over by EQT . On December 10, 2013, the company went public again on the Stockholm Stock Exchange .

On October 14, 2014, the Swiss sanitary technology group Geberit announced that it would take over Sanitec for 9.7 billion Swedish kronor (around 1.06 billion euros). Geberit had acquired 99.22% of the shares by February 11, 2015 and the shares were then delisted from the stock exchange on February 27, 2015.
