The Saint George Church (also Gharib Church ) is a historic Armenian Apostolic Church in the Iranian city of Isfahan .
It is the second oldest church in the Julfa district. Only the Hakup Church, which is located within the Sankt-Marien-Kirche, is older . The interior design of the church is kept very simple. There is only an old painting in the apse . Nonetheless, an extension is remarkable, in which 13 pieces of special stones are contained. Armenians had removed them from the Echmiadzin Cathedral when they emigrated from Armenia to Isfahan in the early 17th century . These stones make St. George's Church one of the holiest places for Armenians in Julfa. At the entrance to the church there is a picture made of ceramic tiles from the era of Sultan Hosein . The picture shows Jesus , Mary and the three kings who bring gifts.
