Saint Quirinus in the Hanencrad
Sankt Quirinius im Hanencrad was a Catholic church in Rösenbeck near Brilon in the Sauerland (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany).
history
Around 1120, this church was built north of Altenfils Castle at the instigation of the Archbishop of Cologne, Friedrich I. von Schwarzenburg . Patron was the Roman tribune and martyr Quirin . The church was the first place of worship in the Rösenbeck district. On photos of the aerial archeology , the location could be proven by incorrect vegetation on a field. The walls were therefore 1.25 meters thick, the nave was 8 × 17 meters. The building was about 1,200 meters east of today's town center. It was destroyed by marauding Bohemian mercenaries in the Soest feud in 1449.
