Together with the directly adjoining Mar del Tuyú, the place has 19,950 inhabitants (2001), making it the second largest town in the so-called Atlántida Argentina , an elongated built-up area.

location

Santa Teresita is located on Cabo San Antonio , a long, straight cape with a flat coast. The surrounding area belongs to the pampa plain . The climate is warm temperate, with warm summers, mild winters and frequent rainfall.

history

The place was founded in 1945. After the tarred coastal road Ruta Provincial 11, it quickly developed into one of the most popular seaside resorts in the region . At the end of the 1990s, the seaside resort made headlines around the world due to the arrest and extradition of Dinko Šakić , a former Croatian concentration camp commandant of the Jasenovac and Stara Gradiška concentration camps run by the Ustasha , as well as convicted war criminals. Before that, he had lived there undisturbed for more than 50 years with his wife Nada Šakić and their children.
