The municipality of Santana , today also Santana / Tucuruvi , is one of 32 sub-prefectures ("Subprefeituras") of the Brazilian city ​​of São Paulo . It is located in the administrative region Zona Nordeste and consists of three districts ( distritos ): Santana , Tucuruvi and Mandaqui . The municipality covers an area of ​​34.7 km² and in 2010 had a population of 324,815 residents.

The seat of the sub-prefecture is located on Avenida Tucuruvi in ​​the district of the same name. Pedro Nepomuceno de Sousa Filho was appointed sub-prefect (as of 2020).

In the north of Mandaqui, the municipality of Santana also extends to parts of the Serra da Cantareira and the Horto Florestal .

Originally the Jesuit station Fazendo de Santana was the center of the settlement, from which the Bairro de Santana , one of the oldest places in the north of São Paulo, developed.
