description

The church is first mentioned in 1211; the south wall of this building has been preserved. The current baroque church, a longitudinal building with a retracted polygonal choir and two side chapels, was built in 1671 according to plans by the master builder Johannes von Riale.

The Lady Chapel inside the church was decorated in 1679 by Giovanni Battista Rezia from Porlezza with lavish baroque stucco work. A gilded wooden statue from the 17th century stands in a niche.

The frescoes on the north outer wall of the choir show the crucifixion and confession on the left, Saint Victor of Milan with sword on the right . The type of execution means that the frescoes belong to the workshop of the Seregnesi .

The high altar with its elaborately carved structure dates from the end of the 17th century, the barrel vault from 1830. The choir was painted in 1936. Individual frescoes by Carlo Biucchi date from 1748. They were restored between 1995 and 1998 on the occasion of a restoration. They were covered by paintings by Emilio Ferrazzini, which can now be seen on the opposite facade.

The frescoes by the Tarilli brothers from 1587 in the outside chapel to the left of the church door show a Madonna and Child on the back wall , Saints Rochus and Sebastian , on the struts of the vault Nazarius and Celsus , in the vault the four evangelists with their attributes . To the right of the entrance remains of an image of Christophorus have been preserved; possibly from the 13th century.

The family grave of General Antonio Arcioni is in the surrounding cemetery .
