Santiago Maior (officially: Beja (Santiago Maior) ) is a locality and former municipality in southern Portugal . It is one of the inner city parishes of the city of Beja .

Santiago Maior was the seat of a community ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of the city of Beja , in the Beja district . The community had an area of ​​43.2 km² and 7620 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

With the administrative reorganization in Portugal on September 29, 2013, the parishes of Beja (Santiago Maior) and Beja (São João Baptista) were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Beja (Santiago Maior e São João Baptista) . Beja (Santiago Maior) is the seat of this newly formed community.
