Santiago Urdiales Marquez (born March 30, 1980 in Santander , Spain ) is a former Spanish handball player . He is currently working as a handball trainer.

Urdiales, who last played for the Spanish club SDC San Antonio (shirt number 31) and ran for the Spanish national team (shirt number 24), was mostly used as a right winger. He is 1.82 m tall and weighed 80 kg in October 2010.

Santiago Urdiales started playing handball in his hometown. He also made his debut in 1997 in the Spanish ASOBAL league for the local first division club CB Cantabria Santander . There he won the Copa ASOBAL and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1998 . In 2001 he moved to the up-and-coming club BM Ciudad Real , where he again won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2002 and 2003 , the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 2003 and the Spanish championship and the Copa ASOBAL in 2004. With the arrival of Mirza Džomba in 2004, however, he saw no more opportunities for himself and returned to his old club from Santander. There he won no other titles; In 2006 he signed a contract with the top club Ademar León , with which he made it to the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2007 , but was defeated by the German HSV Hamburg there . In 2008 he moved to league rivals SDC San Antonio . Here he ended his career in 2011.

Santiago Urdiales made 17 appearances for the Spanish national team .

Urdiales took over the second team from Cátedra 70 de Malagón in 2012. A year later he became head coach of the first team of Cátedra 70 de Malagón.
