Santiago Vázquez (Montevideo)

Santiago Vázquez is a village within the Barrio Paso de la Arena on the western outskirts of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo . It is named after the Uruguayan politician Santiago Vázquez (1787–1847). In 2004 the place had 1,482 inhabitants.

The village is located directly at the mouth of the Río Santa Lucía in the Río de la Plata . In the delta of the Río Santa Lucía, the Isla del Tigre lies to the west. From Santiago Vázquez, the Puente Alfredo Zitarrosa bridge in the course of Route 1 and an older truss bridge lead to Delta del Tigre y Villas , a barrio of Ciudad del Plata .
