Ciudad del Plata is a city in Uruguay .
geography
It is located on the territory of the Department of San José in its sector 6 on the Río de la Plata . The city, located west of the mouth of the Río Santa Lucía , includes the formerly 19 independent settlements in the area between Río Santa Lucía and Río de la Plata up to kilometer point 35 of Ruta 1 , which is also known as Rincón de la Bolsa . These include the places Delta del Tigre y Villas , Playa Pascual , Safici (Parque Postel) , Santa Mónica and Monte Grande , which are now barrios of the Ciudad del Plata. About 30 km to the east is the capital Montevideo , the satellite city of which is the Ciudad del Plata.
history
The city was built on the basis of Ley Nº 18.052 , announced on October 25, 2006 . In 2010, the implementation of the decentralization law also created the Municipio de Ciudad del Plata , which also includes the nearby rural areas including Wilson and Galland and which extends up to kilometer 39 of Route 1.
Infrastructure
Route 1 runs through Ciudad del Plata . The city is an important industrial center of the country and has numerous companies located here. One of the most important sand mining areas in the country can also be found on site. With Playa Penino , Ciudad del Plata also has a large, ecologically significant area in which a large number of different bird species are resident.
