Sara Morrison

Antoinette Sara Frances Sibell Morrison , née Long, (born August 9, 1934 in London , England ) is a manager and conservative British politician.

Life

A longtime Tory politician, Sara Morrison was vice-chairwoman of the Conservative Party from 1971 to 1975. In 1975 she moved to the General Electric Company and was a director from 1980 to March 1988. She was a board member of The Fourth Channel Television Co (1980–85), Imperial Group (1982–86), Carlton Television Ltd (1991–99), Kleinwort Charter Investment Trust PLC, New Millennium Experience Ltd (1997-2001), and Abbey National Building Society (1979-95). She was director of Charter European Trust plc from 1993 to 2002. In the National Council for Voluntary Organizations (NCVO), the umbrella organization for voluntary organizations, she was vice-chairman (1970-77) and board member (1977-87).

She was a member of the UK Round Table for Sustainable Development (1995–98) and the Advisory Board of the Family Policy Studies Center (1989–97).

From 1986 to 2001 she was a member of the Board of Directors of Imperial College London . In 2004 she assumed the office of Council Chairperson at the University of Bath . She has honorary doctorates from De Montfort University and the Universities of Coventry and Buckingham .

For many years she also volunteered in Wiltshire , where she lives on her farm. She also has a residence in London.

From 1998 to 2002 she was Chair of the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) in Great Britain and was elected to the board of the World Wide Fund For Nature International . In 2000 she became Vice President of WWF International and then served as its President until 2001.

Sara Morrison married Sir Charles Morrison in 1954. In 1984 the divorce took place. Her son and daughter were born out of this marriage.
