Sarah Akanji

Sarah Akanji (* 1993 ) is a Swiss football player and politician from the Social Democrats .

Akanji studied politics and history and works as an election campaign employee at the SP party secretariat. In 2019 she was elected to the Zurich Cantonal Council and achieved by far the best result in Winterthur this year . There she belongs to the Commission for Education and Culture.

Akanji co-founded the first women's team at FC Winterthur in July 2016. At the end of May 2019, Akanji demanded an apology from football fans of the Swiss football club FC Schaffhausen , who had openly called for violence against women with a banner.

Akanji's mother did an apprenticeship at the Swiss Post , her father studied economics in Boston . Her brother Manuel Akanji plays for Borussia Dortmund and is a member of the Swiss national team . Sarah Akanji lives in Winterthur.
