Sarah Lucas

Sarah Lucas (* 1962 in Holloway , London ) is a British artist (objects, installations , photography, collages).

life and career

From 1982 to 1983 Lucas attended the Working Men's College in London and from 1983 to 1984 the London College of Printmaking. From 1984 to 1987 she studied at Goldsmiths College . Her first solo exhibition was called "A Penis nailed to a board" and took place in 1992 in the London gallery "City Racing". There she met her future business partner Tracey Emin , with whom she opened "The Shop" in 1993.

Lucas is one of the Young British Artists , with whom she also participated in famous exhibitions such as Freeze (1988), Brilliant! (1995), Sensation (1997) and Intelligence - New British Art 2000 in Tate Britain .

In her work, Lucas addresses the relationship between male pleasure and female role understanding. She lives in London.
