Sarandí del Yí is a city in Uruguay .
geography
It is located in the southeastern part of the Durazno department in sector 9 . It lies on the Río Yí , which forms the border with the neighboring Florida party . A few kilometers to the north is the village of Rossell y Rius . The area south to southwest of the city is called Cuchilla Illescas , the one to the east as Cuchilla de los Molles and that in the northeast as Cuchilla Malbajar .

On August 23, 1956, Sarandí del Yí was classified in the " Ciudad " category by Law No. 12.308 .
