Sardinian lira

The lira (plural: lire) was the currency of the Kingdom of Sardinia until 1861. One lira initially corresponded to 20 soldi (singular: soldo), each of these 12 denari (singular: denaro). In 1816 the lira was linked to the French franc and converted to a decimal system; it now corresponded to 100 centesimi (singular: centesimo). With the rise of the Kingdom of Sardinia into the Kingdom of Italy in 1861 , it was finally replaced by the Italian Lira .
