Sarnthein (Sarntal)
Sarnthein ( Italian Sarentino ) is the capital of the municipality Sarntal in South Tyrol ( Italy ). It is located at around 970 m above sea level and with over 2000 inhabitants is by far the largest village as well as the economic and cultural center of the Sarntal . The Sarner Kirchtag, which takes place in Sarnthein, is one of the largest folk festivals in South Tyrol. Among the architectural sights of the village, the parish includes the Assumption , the small, decorated with medieval frescoes Church St. Cyprian , medieval residential tower Kränzelstein , the Ansitz Kellerburg (formerly owned by the Counts of Wolkenstein) , the historic Rohrerhof (now a museum) and the slightly elevated Reinegg Castle .
