The castle Reinegg (also Reineck ) is a high medieval castle in the South Tyrolean village of Sarnthein , the main town of the municipality Sarntal . The castle complex, which is not open to the public, is a listed building.
history
The facility was first mentioned in a document in 1263 under the name "castrum Sarentine", although it is assumed that the building was built at the beginning of the 13th century. In 1273 the castle was enfeoffed to Meinhard II. The Counts of Sarnthein became owners of the castle in 1635. On April 11, 2015, part of the curtain wall suddenly collapsed.

The castle has a representative palace with coupled Drilling windows. There is also a keep , gate tower, three kennels, a castle chapel with frescoes from the 13th century and farm buildings.
