Andrian castle ruins

The sparse wall remains of the Andrian castle ruins are located near Andrian in South Tyrol , hidden in the forest on a spur above Wolfsthurn Castle . There is no longer any clear floor plan.

The hilltop castle was first mentioned in 1237 as "castrum Andriani in superiori palatio" when Bishop Egno of Eppan issued a certificate in it. It is known that the complex was originally a castle of the Counts of Eppan and was handed over to them in the wars with Count Meinhard II in 1276; then the castle was abandoned and fell into disrepair. The castle ruin has been a listed building since 1979.
