The castle ruin Kastellatz is a ruin preserved in poor wall remains near Schlinig , municipality of Mals . At 1,651 m above sea level, Kastellatz is the highest hill fort in South Tyrol .
location
The castle ruins are located on a hill above the Benedictine Abbey of Marienberg that was already settled in prehistory . It is a narrow, extended condition, wherein the keep is located on the highest point of the Burg square.
history
The Counts of Tarasp are given as builders . In 1146 Kastellatz is described as "castrum suum Castelletz" and razed in the same year on the orders of Count Ulrich von Tarasp .
