The Castle Aichach is the ruins of a hilltop castle in the village of St. Oswald in South Tyrol ( Italy )

History and preservation

The castle was first mentioned in 1243 in connection with the Lords of Aichach. After disputes with the Lords of Castelrotto, the Aichach line died out and the castle became the property of the Lords of Castelrotto in 1741. However, as early as 1618, the castle was described by Marx Parakeet von Wolkenstein as the “ruined Aichach Castle”.

Today the curtain wall of the castle complex with dovetail pinnacles, which is atypical for the Eisack valley , is preserved. Furthermore, the arched gate at the gate with the arched door to the battlement which was later raised. Inside there is a playground.
