St. Oswald (Castelrotto)
St. Oswald ( Italian Sant'Osvaldo ) is the lowest-lying fraction of Castelrotto .
The settlement area stretches from the Eisack gorge at 400 m slm up to the Laranz forest at 1100 m . The small town center with the church first mentioned in a document in 1234 lies on a terrace at around 750 m . The Aichach castle ruins are not far from the Pflegerhof .
There has also been a dwarf school in town since 1778 . St. Oswald has 141 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2012). The best-known resident of the small town is Norbert Rier , singer and front man of the Kastelruther Spatzen .
