The castle ruin in the wood is a hill castle near Prissian in the municipality of Tesimo in South Tyrol that has been preserved in a few remains of the wall .

geography

The ruin is located on a narrow rocky ridge in a remote forest gorge, in the so-called Peckenloch , between Grissian and Prissian in the Adige Valley .

history

The castle was built by the ministerials of the Counts of Eppan -Ulten in the 13th century (first mentioned in 1226). The Latinized castle name de Silva is attested with Reimbrecht von Holz in 1312.

Status

Remnants of field stone masonry can be found in regular layers in the forest . The castle ruins were placed under monument protection in 1981.
