Prissian

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prissian ( Italian Prissiano ) is a fraction of the municipality of Tesimo in South Tyrol ( Italy ).

The village is located at 610  m slm on the high plateau in the Tisner Mittelgebirge between Bozen and Meran . The approximately 800 inhabitants live mainly from agriculture (apples, wine, cattle farming), tourism and handicrafts. The "Keschtn" (Tisner sweet chestnuts), which are enjoyed with the new wine at Törggelen in autumn, are particularly well known .

Prissian is also referred to as a castle village because the castles Wehrburg , Fahlburg , Kasatsch , Zwingenburg , im Holz und Katzenzungen , the latter with the largest grapevine in Europe, the Versoaln (with an area of 300 m²), are in the immediate vicinity . The Liedl and Greifenegg residences also exist.

Prissian is documented as early as 1297 as part of the settlement belonging to the main town of Tesimo ( “de Prisano de loco Tisens” ).

The best-known son of the village is probably the priest and publicist Michael Gamper (born February 7, 1885 in Prissian, † April 15, 1956 in Bozen) due to his commitment to the German ethnic group in South Tyrol during fascism and national socialism .
