Tisens ([ tiˑsn̩s ]; Italian Tesimo ) is an Italian municipality of 1,994 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) in South Tyrol . It is located in the Adige Valley south of Merano .

The community is particularly well known for the Tisner sweet chestnuts. Every year there is a big festival in October called "Keschtnriggl".

geography

The municipality of Tesimo is located in the Burggrafenamt in the Adige Valley between Merano and Bozen on the orographically right , western side of the valley. The two largest settlements, the main town Tesimo ( 630  m ) and Prissian ( 610  m ), as well as the hamlets Grissian ( 850  m ) and Naraun ( 680  m ) are elevated in a low mountain range ( Tisner low mountain range ). Only a relatively small part of the municipality reaches the bottom of the Adige Valley. In the south, the village of Schernag ( 320  m ) borders directly on the center of Nals . In the west, the municipality rises to the mountain ranges of the Nonsberg group . There are two mountain fractions : Gfrill ( 1050  m ) is located directly on the road to the Gampenpass ( 1518  m ), which provides a transition to the Deutschnonsberg and the Non Valley ; Platzers ( 1280  m ), clearly separated from the Adige Valley by the Tisner Gall ( 1631  m ), is the highest settlement in the municipality. Tisens finds its highest points on the Kleiner Laugen ( 2297  m ) and on the northern foothills of the Mendelkamm .

"Tesana" is also listed among the places. The second mention was made in 1194 as "in plebe Teseni supra Nals". "Tisin" is documented in 1221.
