Helmut Stampfer

Helmut Stampfer (* 1948 in Merano ) is a South Tyrolean art historian and monument conservator .

Life

Stampfer studied philosophy, history and art history at the University of Milan . In 1974 he began to work as an art historian at the South Tyrolean Monuments Office in Bolzano . From 1983 to 2007 he was the South Tyrolean provincial curator . Since 2005 he has been teaching as an honorary professor at the University of Innsbruck . Since 1992 he has been a full member of the Accademia degli Agiati in Rovereto .

Stampfer is the author of a large number of publications on the art and cultural history of Tyrol . For years he has been in charge of the publication of the series Farms in South Tyrol , a complete edition of the material on rural architecture, which was published from 1940 to 1943 on behalf of the Nazi- related working group of Optanten and the cultural commission Ahnenerbe of the SS under Martin Rudolph - ideologically charged as "Heritage Germanic Baukunst ”and in the context of the South Tyrolean option - was collected.
