History and Region / Storia e regione (abbreviation: GRSR ) is a German and Italian-language specialist journal for historical studies that appears twice a year in Bolzano ( South Tyrol , Italy ) .

The periodical has been published by the working group of the same name since 1992. It represents a critical point of orientation and reference point in the regional historical literature of the Tyrolean area and its neighboring regions. With a thematically broad, interdisciplinary and transnational orientation and methodologically innovative approaches, the magazine has established itself as an alternative to the classic regional history . A special feature is the German-Italian bilingualism of the publication. Since 2013, all articles have been subjected to a peer review process prior to publication .

GRSR sees itself as a contact forum and link of the Italian and Austrian-German research landscape and focuses in particular on the comparative regional history of the central Alpine region .

Michaela Oberhuber has been the magazine's managing director since 2014, who succeeded Siglinde Clementi in this role. The editorial team includes Andrea Bonoldi, Francesca Brunet, Siglinde Clementi, Andrea Di Michele, Ellinor Forster, Florian Huber, Stefan Lechner, Hannes Obermair , Gustav Pfeifer, Martina Salvante, Philipp Tolloi and Oswald übergger . Correspondents include Giuseppe Albertoni, Laurence Cole, Hans Heiss , Pieter M. Judson , Margareth Lanzinger, Wolfgang Meixner , Cecilia Nubola, Gerald Steinacher and Reinhard Stauber . Klaus Brandstätter is one of the former correspondents .

In 2013, the working group established the Center for Regional History at the Free University of Bolzano .
