Reinhard Stauber

Reinhard Alexander Stauber (born July 26, 1960 in Regensburg ) is a German historian , has been a university professor for modern history and Austrian history at the University of Klagenfurt since 2003 and vice- rector there from October 29, 2020 .

Life

Stauber studied history and political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Modern History at the University of Munich. His doctorate took place in 1990, the work entitled Duke Georg von Bayern-Landshut and his imperial politics was awarded the doctoral prize of the University of Munich in the following year. In 1998 Stauber completed his habilitation at the Philosophical Faculty for History and Art Studies at the University of Munich on the subject of the central state at its borders. Administrative integration, change of rule and political culture in the southern Alpine region finished.

A visiting professor in Italy at the German Historical Institute in Rome was followed by a substitute professor for the Chair of Early Modern History at the University of Munich, and Stauber also worked as a research assistant for the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . After a visiting professor at the University of Innsbruck , he was appointed professor for modern and Austrian history at the University of Klagenfurt on December 1, 2003. At this point, Stauber succeeded the renowned Austrian historian Helmut Rumpler . In 2010, Stauber turned down a call to the University of Regensburg .

From 2007 Stauber was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Klagenfurt. After the resignation of the Germanist Albert Berger from this position in March 2011, Stauber initially led the Dean's office on a provisional basis; on June 1, 2011 he was officially appointed dean of cultural studies until the end of 2013. In 2015, he served as dean for another year.

In March 2012, Stauber was elected a member of the historical commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. He has also been a member of the FWF Board of Trustees since October 2015 .

On May 11, 2020, Reinhard Stauber was appointed by the University Council of the University of Klagenfurt as Vice Rector for Personnel and Infrastructure for the four-year term from the end of October 2020.
