Klaus Brandstätter

Klaus Brandstätter (born November 29, 1961 in Innsbruck ; † August 23, 2014 there ) was an Austrian historian .

Klaus Brandstätter studied history and Romance languages ​​at the University of Innsbruck , where he received his doctorate in 1993. Since 1990 he has been an assistant at the Institute for History there, Department of the History of the Middle Ages (today History and European Ethnology). In 2001 he obtained his habilitation in medieval history and became an associate professor at the same institute.

Brandstätter's main research interests included the regional history of historic Tyrol including the monasteries of Trento and Brixen, with particular consideration of urban history issues from the medieval and early modern phases.

Brandstätter was a member of the International Society for Historical Alpine Research and correspondent for the historical journal Geschichte und Region / Storia e regione as well as chairman (chairman) of the Tyrolean History Society , Innsbruck section.
