Oleksandrivka ( Ukrainian Олександрівка ; Russian Александровка Alexandrowka ) is a village in Biloserka district in the southern Ukrainian Oblast of Kherson with 2,600 inhabitants (2004).
The village, founded in 1781, is the only place in the district council of the same name .
location
Oleksandriwka is located on the right (northern) bank of the Dnieper-Bug Limans , the mouth of the Dnieper into the Black Sea and on the T-15-01 territorial road . The village is part of a 996 hectare protected landscape area of national importance Oleksandrivka, created in 2002 .
The district center of Biloserka is located about 30 km east of Oleksandrivka.
history
The village goes back to a first settlement by Cossacks in 1754. They caught fish in the Liman and mined table salt with which they traded. During archaeological excavations in the 20th century, scientists found the remains of a Cossack cemetery.
Buildings and a monument
It is worth mentioning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate John the Evangelist .
Until February 23, 2015, a statue of Lenin stood in the village on a pedestal with a square floor plan, clad with red granite slabs. Strangers have cleared and removed the statue on it. Its establishment in this small village goes back to the fact that Lenin used to go for walks in the Biloserka district.
