Sarobi (also Surobi , Sorūbī , Surawbi or Surobei ) is the easternmost district of the Kabul Province in Afghanistan .
The administrative center of the district is the city of the same name Sarobi also called Sarobi center . The district is divided into 20 zones (as of 2002) and has 130 settlements with around 72,000 inhabitants, of which 31,000 have been refugees in Pakistan since 1990 . 90% of the population are Pashtuns , the majority of the rest of the population are Pashais . The district has three hydropower plants, Band-e-Naghlo , Band-e-Mahipar (out of operation due to lack of water) and Band-e-Barqi-Sarobi , making it the main supplier of electricity to the capital of Kabul, Afghanistan .
