Sat.1 at noon
Sat.1 am Mittag is a former magazine program that was broadcast live on the private broadcaster Sat.1 and dealt with news and tabloid topics. It was moderated by Mareile Höppner , who was represented by Gaby Papenburg and Marcus Werner in case of vacation or illness .
The broadcast started on January 16, 2006 and initially ran on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In favor of this format, Sat.1 stopped production of the ten-year talk show Vera am Mittag . After two months, the airtime was cut by half an hour; the new broadcast began at 12:00. However, the magazine was in direct competition with the RTL midday journal Punkt 12 , which was broadcast at the same time , so the broadcast was brought forward by one hour to 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. due to moderate ratings.
Despite audience ratings well above the broadcaster average, the format was surprisingly discontinued in mid-July 2007; the last broadcast was on July 16, 2007. The reason for the cancellation of Sat.1 at lunchtime - at the same time as Sat.1 in the evening - are the proposals made by management consultant McKinsey for cost-cutting measures, of which apparently mainly the information programs of Sat. 1 were affected.
