The Satellite Snowfield (English for satellite snow field ) is a snow field in the southern center of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It lies on the southeast side of the Walton Mountains .
The British Directorate of Overseas Surveys mapped it together with the United States Geological Survey using satellite images from NASA . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1974 after the natural satellites of the planets of the solar system , after which numerous geographical objects in the area are named.
