Satomi Ton ( Japanese 里 見 弴 ; born July 14, 1888 in Yokohama ; † January 21, 1983 ) was a Japanese writer.

Satomi was born into the influential Arishima family, but was adopted by his mother's family. Hence his real name was Yamanouchi Hideo ( 山 内 英 夫 ). His older brothers Arishima Takeo and Arishima Ikuma were also known as writers. Despite the adoption, he grew up with his parents.

After attending the Gakushūin high school, Satomi studied at the University of Tokyo , but without obtaining a degree. A few etchings have survived from 1909 which go back to a course with Bernard Leach and which reveal a talent for painting. In 1910 he founded the artist group Shirakaba with his brothers and the writers Mushanokōji Saneatsu and Shiga Naoya . He aroused the interest of Izumi Kyōkas , whose student he became.

Satomi's novels are characterized by close psychological observation and realistic dialogues. Among his best-known works are Zenshin Akushin ( 善心 悪 心 ), Tajō Busshin ( 多情 仏 心 ), Anjō-ke no Kyōdai ( 安 城 家 の 兄弟 ) and Gokuraku Tombo ( 極 楽 と ん ぼ ).

In 1959 Satomi was awarded the Order of Culture .
