Siegfried von Gelnhausen

Siegfried von Gelnhausen (* in the 13th century; † July 19, 1321 in Chur ) was Bishop of Chur from 1298 to 1321 .

Life

Siegfried, first attested in 1289, was a canon in Aschaffenburg and a chaplain at the castle in Gelnhausen . From 1298 he was protonotary of the Mainz chancellery, and between 1300 and 1316 he was appointed vicar general of the Archdiocese of Mainz several times . In 1298 Siegfried became Bishop of Chur, he participated several times in the court days of Kings Albrecht I and Henry VII . He accompanied Heinrich on his Italian expedition and was present at the imperial coronation in Rome. In 1300 he succeeded in ending the imperial bailiwick of the barons of Vaz via the Chur monastery. He stayed only rarely in his diocese and in 1310 appointed the Provost Rudolf von Montfort as Vicar General.
