The Saurer 6DM is a two - axle all - wheel drive truck with a payload of 6 tons made by Adolph Saurer AG from Switzerland, which was built from 1983 in a number of at least 800 units. A similar model with three axles and a larger payload is the Saurer 10DM .
technology
The 6DM is a truck with a ladder frame and two powered rigid axles. The axle brackets are constructed as banjo axles (with removable differential gears) made of cast iron with spheroidal graphite (nodular cast iron) and are suspended on semi-elliptical leaf springs and hollow rubber springs, the rear axle with additional springs. Both the rear and front axles have hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers . All wheels are permanently driven, the drive force is transmitted to the axles by a lockable ZF A 800 / 3D transfer case, with 77% of the torque being transferred to the rear and 23% of the torque to the front axle. The front axle differential cannot be locked, the rear axle differential can be locked. The four wheels have single tires with size 14 R20-18PR tires. Braking is done with a dual-circuit brake system that works pneumatically on simplex brakes with automatic slack adjusters. It is regulated depending on the load. The parking brake is a spring-loaded brake that acts on the rear wheels.
The gearbox is a semi-automatic planetary gearbox of the type FBW PG 10 , which is switched electro-pneumatically. It has five gears with a flanged front group, so a total of ten forward gears and two reverse gears are available. A pneumatically operated gearbox for power take-offs of type ZF N70 / 1C is flanged to the gearbox. The torque is transmitted from the engine to the gearbox via a torque converter with automatic lock-up clutch of the type ZF WSK 400 . The converter has a pneumatically controlled, graduated retarder .
When the motor is Saurer D4 KT-M used, an inline six-cylinder - four cycle - four-valve - Diesel engine with direct injection , side camshaft and exhaust-gas turbocharger . It is liquid cooled . With a cylinder bore of 130 mm and a piston stroke of 150 mm, the engine has a total displacement of 11.95 dm³ . It has an output of 184 kW at 2200 rpm and delivers a maximum torque of 1060 Nm at 1150 rpm.
Some vehicles are equipped with a Rotzler cable winch.
