Sayo Yamamoto

Sayo Yamamoto ( Japanese 山 本 沙 代 Yamamoto Sayo ; born  April 13,  1977 ) is a Japanese animation director.

After graduating from the College of Art and Design in Tokyo, she started at Studio Madhouse. She made her debut there in 2000 as a production assistant in the film adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's manga Hidamari no Ki . The following year she was responsible for the storyboard in episode 22 of the anime series X and in the next year led episode directors ( enshutsu ) for episodes 11, 19 and 33 of the series Dragon Drive .

In 2008 she first directed the series ( kantoku ) for Manglobe's work Michiko & Hatchin , which is about a woman, Michiko, who has escaped from prison, and a girl, Hatchin, who is mistreated by his adoptive family, is rescued by Michiko, both of whom are now are on the run. In 2012, Lupine the Third - Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna followed, in which, for the first time in the “ Lupine the 3rd ” franchise, not the eponymous hero is in the foreground, but his opponent Fujiko Mine. Her latest work Yūri !!! On Ice , which she developed together with Mitsurō Kubo, is about the young figure skater Yuri.

For Fujiko Mine she received the Young Talent Award of the Japan Media Arts Festival and Yūri !!! On Ice was named Best Series at the Tokyo Anime Awards .
