Scantic River State Park is a state park in the US state of Connecticut . It consists of several pieces of land along the Scantic River in the area of ​​the towns of Enfield , East Windsor and Somers . there are opportunities for hiking, fishing and hunting.

In 1967 the first plans for the establishment of the park were made. In 1989 a master plan was published and the first land purchases were made.

geography

The Scantic River, on its meandering course from east to west, connects most of the individual parcels of the park. 9 parcels belong to the park, which is an ecological transition zone between the Connecticut River and the Shenipsit State Forest . Three areas of the park are open to hunting: the Powder Hollow area , an area of ​​68 hectares in the Hazardville area , part of Enfield; also an area between Scitico Road and Route 190 along the Enfield and Somers city limits for 73 hectares; and the Harrington Lot an area in East Windsor between Melrose Road and Route 140 with 97 hectares. North of the area in East Windsor joins the Royce Memorial Park .
