The Scarlet Hill (English for Scarlet Hill ) is an ice-free, rounded and 410 m high hill on the island of Heard of the Heard and McDonald Islands in the southern Indian Ocean . It rises above Skua Beach on the east side of the island.
The first rough mapping was carried out in 1874 by participants in the British Challenger expedition (1872–1876). Scientists from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions carried out surveys and descriptive naming in 1948.
